We are a local charity run entirely by volunteers. We organise action sessions involving horticultural, environmental and community activities across the Fair City of Perth, including litter picks, planting and maintaining flower beds, tidying up overgrown areas and looking after the heather garden in Riverside Park, to name just a few! There are lots of examples of our volunteers at work on the pages of this website so do have a browse. You can also hear from some of our volunteers themselves in our 'Meet our Volunteers' video.
Our activity sessions usually last two hours and depending on what we're doing, may be during the day or in the early evening. Our most regular sessions are on Tuesday mornings 10-12; these are often, but not always, held in Riverside Park. Other sessions are arranged for other times and places. All sessions are alerted to our volunteers by email or Whatsapp. If you would like to come along as a volunteer, we can add you to our email list if you grant us permission to do so. Our Privacy Policy sets out how we will hold and use your data. The Policy is included in our Policy & Procedures document, which also covers issues like safe working practices for our volunteers.
We work throughout the year, in (almost) all weathers, sometimes in partnership with other groups or organisations . We provide the tools and equipment you'll need - we just ask our volunteers to dress appropriately for the weather and to wear suitable sturdy footwear. It's great fun, it gets you out into the healthy outdoors and it can be hard work, but it's very rewarding and we're a very sociable group! You don't have to know about gardening or the environment to be a volunteer; if you happen to be an expert you'll be very welcome, but many of us started out as beginners and have learned a lot along the way! You don't have to come to every session - we all do what we can so there's no pressure, every contribution helps.
If you'd like to join our team of volunteers, do please get in touch we'd love to hear from you.
