We work with with local schools, organisations, community groups and businesses across the Fair City on projects to improve the local environment.
We're very grateful to the businesses who sponsor our work, allowing us to have beautiful floral displays in Perth. You can find a list of our sponsors here.
Kinnoull Primary School was refurbished recently, and its front entrance on the Dundee Road was in need of some TLC. We joined pupils from the Eco Club and the School Council to landscape the front of the school to create both a lovely front garden and a valuable learning resource.
Children from all Perth schools join us in June each year to plant the large flower bed in front of Perth Leisure Pool. Each year we choose a design for the bed that reflects a key event. In 2012 we did a crown to mark the Queen's Jubilee; in 2013 we created a butterfy for the Year of Natural Scotland and the 2014 design was a golfing scene to celebrate the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. In 2017 the thmeme is 'birds, bees and trees'.
The congregation of St Leonards in the Fields church, which overlooks the South Inch, has joined with us to keep the flower beds in front of the church blooming lovely! Spring bulbs will blossom, and the summer bedding plants will provide a real splash of colour.
We're also delighted to be working with the staff gardening club at Perth Station. Club members, who include station staff along with train drivers and conductors between shifts, are creating lovely displays in the public areas of the station and a peaceful staff garden with seating, vegetable plots and sustainable planting.
