Speaking at the event, John Summers expressed the Beautiful Perth Committee’s views on the high standard of entries across the board this year:

“We want as many people as possible to help make Perth a great place to live, work and visit. We were hugely impressed not only with the quality of all the entries this year but also with the hard work and commitment demonstrated by so many people in their gardens, floral displays and local environmental projects. Entries ranged from small window boxes to large gardens, and entrants from senior citizens to nursery school children, from individual citizens to local businesses.

“I want to congratulate not only the overall winners and the category winners but all the entrants who are helping us make Perth such a beautiful place. The judges from Britain in Bloom visited Perth the other week and I know they were impressed by what they saw. Every one of the local award entrants helped make that happen and I can’t wait till the Award ceremony in October to hear how the Fair City has done in that prestigious competition!”
