About Perth

The historic City of Perth lies in the heart of Scotland, on the banks of the River Tay. The photo galleries below give you a taste of what the City has to offer.

Perth has a population of around 45,000 and is administrative centre of Perth & Kinross. Perth was once the capital of Scotland, a royal residence and a centre of government in the Middle Ages. The City is surrounded by some of Scotland's finest scenery and visitor attractions so there is always something guaranteed to interest everyone. The City is a transport hub, with good links by rail, bus and road (it's about an hour from central Edinburgh or Glasgow) and there are airports at Edinburgh (40 miles) and Dundee (20 miles). You can find more information about visiting Perth on the Visit Scotland website.

Over the past 20 years our charity, Beautiful Perth, has helped make the City famous for its ''in Bloom' and other environmental successes, so if you visit in Spring or Summer you can enjoy the spectacular gardens, parks and floral displays.

There are more photos on our Flickr site. To see a great range of photos of central Scotland, take a look at PK Perspective.
